In 10 minutes, it will be my birthday...CA time. Even tho' I'm a year older, I really don't feel my age. Actually, sometimes I don't even act my age or even dress my age *grin*
My very first 'real' concert was Rick Springfield at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco. My aunt took me and I was so excited I pretty much stood there and didn't scream or sing or do anything. I'm at a concert for god's sake and I'm standing there like a bump on a log. Seeing this, my aunt started screaming and yelling; I guess she figured since she was doing it I would think it's okay and just do it too. Needless to say, I came home totally hoarse and very happy.
I took Lil Blu to her first concert today. Lil Blu is 2-1/2; we saw The Doodlebops. They have a show on the Disney Channel; are a musical group who sing, dance and have skits. They look like clowns and/or aliens. Songs are pretty catchy (Get on the Bus is my fave) and costumes are pretty colorful and bright. Went with my good friend and her daughter. I was excited taking Lil Blu to see what her reaction would be to a live show because she's so animated when she watches them on tv. She spent the entire show on my lap, wide eyed and staring at the stage. No dancing, no singing. When I sang along she would get shy and bury her head in my shoulder.
Maybe it was all too overwhelming for her and she was just taking it in. Maybe she didn't know what to think. Who knows. Friend's daughter, on the other hand, was ready to go home after the pre-show ended. She was into it for the first half of the show but after the intermission and the second half started, she was more interested in the glow sticks she was holding. So we have one child who is enthralled and another who was bored. Oh well, they're little.
So, do I want to take Lil Blu to The Wiggles next month? Uh, we'll see.
